Remembering Uncle Gary

Seven years ago today, my Uncle Gary passed away unexpectedly. In past years on this day, I’ve shared stories from his life and pictures from his life as a priest, a clown, and, of course, the uncle who always fell asleep at birthday parties.

But this year, I just want to share a song that always makes me think of him. He played this song during one of his homilies on Christmas Eve. Years later, the song became a source of comfort for me — a reminder of his smiling eyes, generous heart, and the best message he ever passed along: “What are you doing with the one life God gave you?”

And the second best message, too, in true Bagley style: “Those who keep a neat desk never know the joy of finding something they thought was lost forever.”

We miss you, and your messy desk.
